Wagon Shed Restroom Project

The Friends of the Locktown Stone Church Capital Campaign is raising funds for the construction of accessible, environmentally sensitive restroom facilities and a small meeting space on the church grounds. The Wagon Shed Restroom Project will provide new permanent facilities that will help increase utilization of the historic structure, providing comfort for public and private events, and improving public access.

The design of the facilities is inspired by a former wagon shed that once stood on the property and has long since been dismantled. The environmentally-sensitive closed system that will support the facilities precludes any potential impact on the nearby Wickecheokee Creek.

The FoLSC has a goal of $240,000 for the construction of the shed and sanitary system, and are seeking support through a combination of grants, fundraising events, and private gifts and donations.

The “Passage of Light” by Alexander Volkov

As part of the fundraising efforts, local fine artist Alexander Volkov of Frenchtown, will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from sales of an original painting and limited-edition signed prints of the interior of the church to kick off our Capital Campaign.

From the Artist’s words:
“This began as a fundraising project for an old local church that a small group of dedicated neighbors wanted to preserve. When I first walked in there, I didn’t expect to spend the next four hours sitting in the cold watching the light traverse the sanctuary to the point it vanished completely. I was mesmerized and felt as if I was in the center of the world, one on one with the eternal power of light that wrapped itself around me, suspending me in the air as if I was weightless…”

Support

The Wagon Shed Restroom Project. Thank you for donating towards this project and also for your continuing support of our mission.

Baptist in Kingwood

The estate of Stephen Zdepski has graciously granted permission for the sale of the out-of-print book, “Baptists in Kingwood” as a PDF for $10 per copy. The proceeds from the sales will go towards the Wagon Shed/Restroom Project Fund.

Photos from the Capital Campaign Kickoff

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May, Friends of the Locktown Stone Church gathered in the open courtyard for homemade food and drinks. The purpose of the party was to introduce the Restroom Wagon Shed Project and hear about the campaign to raise funds for the project. To date the trustees have received donations and pledges for over 50% of the $50,000.00 Campaign Goal. Please help us raise the remaining $25,000.00 by September when a report to the New Jersey Historic Trust (to whom we have applied for a major grant) is due.
